The National Prosecutions Authority (NPA), a proud member of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP), is thrilled to announce its active participation in the 28th Annual Conference and General Meeting of the IAP.

This prestigious event, held in London, from the 24th to the 27th September, 2023, brings together prosecutorial professionals from around the globe to deliberate on critical issues within the realm of criminal justice.

The NPA delegation, under the leadership of Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Mr. Gilbert Phiri, includes Mrs. Angelica Kennedy-Mwanza, Principal State Advocate and Mr. Nchimunya Munkombwe, Senior State Advocate based in Chipata, Eastern Province.

This year’s conference centers on the theme – “The Changing Nature of Crime in the 21st Century: Challenges and Responses.”

As criminal networks become more resilient and adaptable, new methods of committing traditional crimes emerge. Increasingly, criminal offenses cross multiple jurisdictional boundaries, necessitating effective international cooperation. This conference seeks to explore innovative ways to address these challenges.

Key topics of discussion include leveraging technological advancements in handling digital evidence, tackling complex cross-border investigations, and enhancing asset freezing and confiscation methods to disrupt criminal activities. The ultimate goal is to foster collaboration and innovation in the global legal community to prevent and combat organised crime, terrorism, and other serious criminal activities effectively.
