In a powerful display of Zambia’s commitment to fighting financial crimes, the National Prosecution Authority (NPA) and the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) united with 24 other countries in the picturesque setting of Mauritius. This remarkable assembly took place from the 10th to the 13th of October 2023. Their mission: is to participate in the annual gathering of the Asset Recovery Inter-Agency Network of Southern Africa (ARINSA).
At the heart of this global gathering, Mrs. Margaret Kapambwe-Chitundu, Head of Zambia’s Asset Forfeiture Department (AFD) of the NPA, led the discussions as the first discussant on the Panel which marked the commencement of the AGM. Her engaging insights ignited the AGM as she delved into significant cases that have garnered widespread attention within the region.
In a separate set of circumstances as the AGM progressed, amidst the impressive discussions and collaborative efforts, Zambia shone brightly on the international stage. The nation received the prestigious ‘Award of Excellence’ in the field of Asset Recovery. This accolade serves as a testament to Zambia’s significant strides in combatting money laundering and asset recovery.
